Leonora Tristen, a part-time worker at three fast food chains was mortified when the official RWBY Twitter account posted spoilers of the newest volume of the show two days before the episode aired to the public.

“I don’t know what’s real anymore…” Leonora said, sobbing. “I blocked #RWBY8, #RWBYV8, #RWBY8Spoilers #RWBYV8Spoilers, #RWBYVolume8Spoilers and a few others I had to invent… And all of those hashtags were blocked for nothing…” In a moment of vulnerability, Leonora broke down into tears.

“They just used an emoji and posted a spoiler! Not a single hashtag! They spoiled a major character appearing in the show, as well as the design! Why would they do something like that?!”

‘RWBY’ is an anime-styled web series originally released on July 18, 2013, on the Rooster Teeth website. The series follows four teenage girls trained to protect the fictional world of Remnant against crime and monsters called Grimm. Monty Oum was the creator of the series, but he passed away in 2015, while season 3 was. RWBY Twitter is fun. Posted by 18 hours ago. RWBY Twitter is fun. Log in or sign up to leave a comment.

Leonora, working at three jobs, barely has any money to pay for her rent and student loans. Having to sustain herself with stale rice and discount bakery bread, Leonora’s only reprieve was to watch RWBY on Saturdays, her only day she is free from two of jobs. Obviously she could not afford a First membership or even internet, as she watched RWBY in the only COVID-defiant bar that had Wi-fi in her area.

After calming down, Leonora continued. “I haven’t been the same since. I eat even less, which although saves me some money, makes me occasionally faint in the workplace. My mom told me to see a therapist, but I can’t afford one! My only plan now is to take all the videos that the Twitter account posts and splice them together, so I can watch the episodes early…” After saying that, the young woman fell unconscious and we were asked by her manager to leave, as we were disrupting her work.

We attempted to ask the official RWBY Twitter account for comment, but in a pathetic display of cowardice, they turned off their DMs. What are they afraid of? Spoilers?

Volume 7 Chapter 12 spoilers for Rooster Teeth’s, RWBY.

RWBY Fanatics on Twitter are outraged… yet again. This time however, they’re actually turning their anger on Rooster Teeth. Here’s why;

Clover, one of the new characters introduced in RWBY Volume 7 and leader of the Ace Ops, ends the episode mortally wounded.

The problem some people on Twitter have with this is that they claim Rooster Teeth has “queerbaited” them for killing off Clover, Qrow’s romantic interest… Except they never had a romantic interest to begin with. Some people on Twitter completely misinterpreted this.

It was obvious to most that they were potentially going to be friends and that’s it. If you watch RWBY, you know very well that Qrow needs all the friends he can get. Qrow is a bit of a loner, he doesn’t have many friends left, and it would be healthy for him to have some.

Especially gaining a friend like Clover, who has a similar semblance and experience leading. Something Qrow can learn from as he lacks such experience despite having to step up at times and lead those who look up to him.

So how did this start, why do some people think that Qrow and Clover were meant to be a couple despite Rooster Teeth making it very clear that was never the case? So clear as a matter afact, that even in the newest Chapter ( where Clover dies ), Qrow and Clover refer to themselves as friends. Yet even with all of that, people must be outraged about something, that’s how Twitter is.

Rwby

The misinterpretation by these people will be explained now;

It all started in RWBY Volume 7 Chapter 3, “Ace Ops”.

First, a moment where Clover catches Qrow and stops him from falling.

Rwby twitter volume 8

Then a moment where Qrow stops Clover from getting hit by a falling piece of metal and ruble.

And finally a scene where Clover winks at Qrow.

The context behind the wink and even the scenes where each helps each other, is because Clover’s semblance is Good Fortune and Qrow’s is Misfortune. The two play off eachother because their semblances are so similar and as mentioned, Qrow can learn how to lead better from Clover, and the two can also develop a healthy friendship.

Qrow is hard on himself because he feels that his semblance negatively effects those around him and Clover jokes around saying “Well hey, don’t beat yourself up about it. My semblance is good fortune, lucky you huh?” Before giving that wink.

It’s apparent that Clover is just a charismatic, confident, and charming guy. That’s just his demeanor. It was never an indication that the two were meant to romantically date and let me remind you once again; Rooster Teeth even had the characters flat out state that they are friends.

Now knowing the backstory, incase you didn’t already, let’s take a look at the outrage;

Jelloapocalypse rwby twitter

Seen a lot of posts about how CRWBY didn't MEAN to make us feel like this, no harm intended, etc.

Except it's 2020. Queer folks have BEEN having this discussion. If you're going to portray LGBT relationships in ANY capacity, do ur homework.

It's 2020 and ignorance IS malicious.

—couples have had so far. These characters spent an entire season at each other's side, had heavy romantic coding and unnecessary flirting scenes, and was teased by official accounts. In the latest episode, the new character was brutally murdered with the old character's weapon.—

mlm couple the show had after 7 years.

— 🍀 Wu Ming (@Agent_R24) January 28, 2020

The way that entire scene played out was so fucked up: dying to Qrow's weapon, teaming up with a serial killer, the light fading from Clover's eyes. They thought they achieved dramatic brilliance but it was really just their hate of gay men shining through. #RWBY#RWBY7

— RWBY-hates-gay-men (@PanlieisCanon) January 25, 2020

fuck off, mlm deserve wins too

Speaking for myself and @jeremyboss007, cuz he wanted you to know as well, we thought the new #RWBY7 ep was technically fantastic, BUT we are very disappointed by the circumstances surrounding a certain decision that was made. #RWBY7spoilers

For clarification, and for future advice, NEVER tease a same-sex pairing you know will never happen, ESPECIALLY if it will end in tragedy, unless you have the balls to outright confirm it in-show. #RWBY7spoilers

— Thomas Vaccaro 🌹🏳️‍🌈🐝💛🖤 (@UnicornOfWar) January 25, 2020

Bumbleby does not give them a pass on this, esp. knowing full well what Lucky Charms meant for male LGBT rep as well as bisexual rep. This goes for the moments that contain romantic subtext and the official Twitter's constant teasing.

— Thomas Vaccaro 🌹🏳️‍🌈🐝💛🖤 (@UnicornOfWar) January 25, 2020

That all said, we still LOVED the rest of that chapter. Unfortunately that one thing left a bad taste in our mouths, and we hope #RWBY won't repeat this. The show is better than this. #RWBY7Spoilers

— Oneirio (@Oneirio) January 25, 2020

clover was literally the healthiest relationship qrow ever had and somehow yall r like 'huh? they were just friends??' SHUT UP i see your double standards. rwby is a show that leans incredibly heavily on subtext with its relationships, even rennora was never explicitly-

— Oneirio (@Oneirio) January 25, 2020

see that shit.. crwby knew what they were doing and to pull this shit on their mlm fans fucking hurts so much because this happens all the fucking time, gays always get killed in the name of 'upping the stakes' in shows and i for one am fucking sick and tired of it.. GOD

— Oneirio (@Oneirio) January 25, 2020

anyway I've been depressed about this long enough, its 4am I'm gonna try to sleep now and then wake up and completely regret posting this in the morning lol

— Oneirio (@Oneirio) January 25, 2020

The thing is, there is this little trupe that's everywhere in media called burry your gays. And I don't think this would have counted towards the trope if it was a wlw person dying. But Qrow and Clover having feelings for each other was at least heavily hinted at. And [1/?]

— jana🛡️ #RWBY spoilers (@goodgirljana) January 25, 2020

they were the only mlm rep in the show not counting Scarlett (who has only been in one volume and confirmed in a manga). It's so rare to see mlm rep in media amd not have it be tragig or other problematic stuff. This is why it hurts some people so much, especially those [2/?]

CRWBY: We won’t bury our gays
Also CRWBY: So we are going to throw hints for these two guys, have them flirt the whole season, then have our hero team up with the bad guy (???) to fight his friend, and have him die under a bi sky after the bad guy stabs him with the hero’s sword.
