Launch VLC on your Apple TV, swipe left to go to the “Local Network” tab, and you’ll see your server there. Just click through to your movies and they should play without effort. What’s great here. This feature is currently only available in version 3.0 of VLC for Windows and Mac, so you’ll need a Windows PC or Mac and an up-to-date version of VLC to continue. Oh, and of course you’ll need a Chromecast device, or an Android TV device like the NVIDIA SHIELD (because they can accept Chromecast-standard streams, too), or a television.
